Ballycanew farmer hosts drainage event

The Heavy Soils Programme is promoting the adoption of appropriate drainage solutions on dairy farms and on the 12th of July visited the Ballycanew catchment in Co Wexford.  There, on the farm of Martin Morris, James O’Loughlin and Pat Tuohy presented their latest programme findings and discussed the practical aspects of good drainage including the importance of investigative soil pits. Other speakers included local and catchments programme advisors and researchers. The heavy soils programme is working with a number of farms in Ireland and more information on these is available here.
