European researchers visit Castledockerell

On 16th October, young researchers from the Europe-wide Inspiration project visited the Castledockerell catchment. This network is investigating the sustainable intensification of farming and particularly soil, air and water quality. Visiting two instrument sites in the catchment, they saw at first hand the groundwater wells and the continuous stream monitoring at the outlet kiosk. Together with researchers, advisors and host farmer Joe Doyle, they discussed the twin challenges of increasing food production and of improving our environment. In the below picture holding the umbrella on a wet afternoon are two of the early-stage researchers. Olha Nikolenko (in yellow) is from the Ukraine and working in Belgium while Rosa Isabel Soria Penafiel from Ecuador, is working in England.

For more information please go to the Inspiration website and the catchments YouTube channel for a short video of the visit.
