Conference on mitigation options

At a conference held on 17th January in Tullamore, a wide range of speakers from Ireland and the UK shared their experiences of working in catchments. The effect of agriculture on water quality was looked at and information presented on mitigation options available to farmers for improving water quality. Two of the speakers were from the catchments team: Eddie Burgess, Manager and Hydrochemist, Sara Vero. Eddie spoke about soil phosphorous trends in the Castledockerell and Dunleer catchments while Sara presented some work on sediment losses. The conference was organised by the Local Authority Waters Programme and presentations are available on their website.
