Farmers visit anaerobic digester

A group of 27 farmers from the Timoleague catchment area visited an anaerobic digester which was recently built on Colin Bateman’s farm in Timoleague. The facility will have the capability to take 48,000 cubic metres (10.5 million gallons) of organic manures per year when fully operational and which will be of interest to the local intensive dairy farmers as a fertiliser source.  The 14 January visit was organised by the catchments advisor Oisin Coakley (Hi-Vis) and also included a demonstration on ecological assessment of water quality in the catchment.
