ACP at Johnstown Open Day

Catchment staff attended Dairy BEEF 2019 in Johnstown Castle Research Centre on 21 May and discussed with visitors some key water quality insights from nearly ten years of work across six catchments. Soil conditions are one of the many factors affecting phosphorous (P) loss to water and losses from two similar rain events were presented. Due to contrasting soil moisture deficits, P losses during the November event were four times greater than during the June storm. In the below picture catchment staff David Ryan, Ian Fox and John Kennedy are in discussion with visitor Hubert Tunney (green top).  For further information on this major national event, a booklet and boards are available here.
