DAFM visit Castledockerell
On 3 April staff from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) visited the Castledockerell catchment site. At visits to the groundwater wells and outlet bankside analyser they saw at first hand current water chemistry readings and got updates from Ian Fox. The wells are located on Joe Doyle’s farm and he discussed his farming operation and involvement in the programme. At the outlet a simple, kick-back sample was done and which revealed a mixed bag of species including Lamprey, Mayfly, Bloodworm and Stonefly. The picture below shows Eddie Burgess emptying the contents onto a display tray through a filter.
