Paper - storms and water pressures

Using data from a 10-year period, this paper reveals links between nutrient losses to water, severe weather events and changing climate patterns such as the North Atlantic Oscillation. More phosphorus loss in winter storms, build-up/loss of the soil N pool in summer droughts and increased impact of point sources in summer are some of the likely outcomes in the near future. In a changing climate, the Driver-Pressure-State-Impact-Response (DPSIR) model will need enhancement to provide the resilience required by agri-environmental measures and the open access paper is available here.storms pressures
