Teagasc Sequencing Centre
DNA Sequencing has revolutionised biological research. Since 2009, Irish academics and industry have benefited from access to these technologies through the Teagasc Sequencing Centre, based in Teagasc Moorepark and led by Prof. Paul Cotter and Dr. Fiona Crispie. This facility, the largest of its kind in Ireland, has a long track record of providing complete genomic solutions to industry and researchers around Ireland. It is co-funded by APC Microbiome Ireland, a world-leading SFI research centre, and also played a key role in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic by leading the Irish Coronavirus Sequencing Consortium. The Centre contains a considerable peripheral infrastructure, a dedicated, highly trained sequencing team, led by a permanent Teagasc Senior Technologist, Dr. Fiona Crispie, and a team of bioinformatics experts; all of which contribute to the excellence of the facility.
