BDGP closing date looms
Friday 15th January is the closing date for suckler farmers to sign up to an extra year in the Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP). Brendan Garry, Teagasc Advisor Mayo, summarises the main points and reminds farmers not to delay in applying for 2021 via Agfood or by responding to the DAFM text
In recent weeks, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine announced a one year extension to this very popular scheme for eligible farmers who successfully completed all tasks in the previous 6 years and in this video, Brendan Garry, Teagasc Ballinrobe outlines details of this extension and how farmers can apply ahead of the upcoming deadline of the 15th January 2021.
In this video Brendan focuses on the main tasks involved which include: recording of surveys, updating the Carbon Navigator, genotyping 60% of your reference number requirement, meeting 50% 4 and 5 star female requirement on 31st October, having a 4 or 5 star genotyped stock bull on the farm by 30th June 2021 and for farmers using AI to continue using at least 80% of 4 and 5 star AI bulls.
