Schedule of SCEP in-person training events released

Schedule of SCEP in-person training events released

The schedule for in-person training events for participants in the Suckler Carbon Efficiency Programme (SCEP) have been announced by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue, T.D.

These training events, scheduled for five locations across the country, were created for farmers unable to access the online training element of the SCEP programme.

The SCEP in-person training will take place from 9.30am to 2.30pm on the dates listed below and staff from the Department will present all seven modules to SCEP participants who cannot do the training online.

Commenting on these training days, Minister McConalogue said: “Whilst the majority of SCEP participants will complete or have completed the training online, for those farmers who do not have internet access or the supports to access the online training, my Department is holding a number of in-person SCEP training events for those who wish to do the training in person rather than online.”

Registration

Attendees must register in advance and be in attendance for the full duration of the in-person training, which will last approximately 5 hours, including signing in and out of the training. SCEP participants cannot nominate someone to attend in their place and must bring photo ID with them to verify their attendance, DAFM notes.

Registration is possible by emailing scep@agriculture.gov.ie, or calling the DAFM help desk at 057 8674422 or registering in person by visiting the SCEP desk in the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine tent at Stand 202 in Row 12, Block 3 at National Ploughing Championships between 17th to 19th September 2024.

Training progress to date

DAFM has noted that as of September 9, almost 5,400 have already successfully completed the training online, well in advance of the deadline for completion of 15 November 2024, with a further 2,360 currently progressing through the modules. This means 46% of all SCEP participants have already logged onto the SCEP training system. It added that the online option will be the most preferable for most participants, whether full time or part time, as they can undertake the training at a date, time and location which best suits them, rather than having to attend a specific location on a specific date.
