Pat and Sean Kelly - EBI Report

Pat and Sean Kelly - EBI Report

Today's Dairy Breeding focus is on the EBI Report. Dairy Advisor Padraig Costigan goes through some of the important figures on this farm which has one of the best EBIs in the country.

The EBI report is key to establishing the genetic merit of a dairy herd. Farmers can use the report to identify the genetic strengths and weaknesses of their dairy animals. AI sires can then be selected that complement the genetics of their own herd as they begin the process of breeding the next generation of replacements for their herd. In this video clip which was recorded at the open day on the farm of Sean and Pat Kelly, Kilruane, Co. Tipperary, Teagasc adviser, Padraig Costigan, details some of the key metrics of importance from the EBI report for the Kellys’ dairy herd.
