Sustainability Discussion at Teagasc Moorepark
An industry forum on the challenges and opportunities facing the Irish dairy industry took place at the Teagasc dairy event in Moorepark. The forum was broadcast live on Wednesday evening and a recording of the discussion and debate is now published on the Teagasc YouTube channel. View it here
Sustainable dairying was the topic for discussion with a particular focus on environmental sustainability as the agrifood sector seeks to meet the commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve water quality and improve biodiversity in Ireland.
The participants in the debate were Professor Gerry Boyle, Director of Teagasc; John Jordan, Chief Executive of Ornua; Marie Donnelly, Chairperson of Climate Change Advisory Council and Padraig Walshe, dairy farmer from county Laois. The discussion was facilitated by Sharon Ní Bheoláin from RTÉ.
