Technology solutions to feature at Moorepark Dairy Open Day
Teagasc, Enterprise Ireland and AgTech Ireland have agreed to provide a platform for AgTech Ireland member companies at the Teagasc Dairy Open Day in Moorepark on Tuesday, July 4th.
Showcasing technologies which are regarded as being valuable and widely available to farmers by an independent judging panel, a number of member companies will be present.
Chairman of AgTech Ireland, Padraig Hennessy welcomed the agreement, saying: "This is a fantastic initiative, and we look forward to participating in one of the most important days for Ireland’s dairy sector from both a technical efficiency and sustainability perspective. We are very grateful for the opportunity for some of our member companies to showcase within the AgTech Ireland stand the proven technology solutions they can provide to support farmers in their sustainability journey."
“We know that, for Irish agriculture to meet its climate and environmental obligations with the necessary urgency, adoption of new farming practices and technologies will be required at scale and at pace. Teagasc has done an enormous amount of work in that space, with their Marginal Abatement Cost Curve (MACC) plan setting out the most impactful measures, and the Signpost Programme supporting farmers in adopting them. AgTech Ireland believe that new technologies in the biotech, genetics, equipment, machinery or data realms will also make a vital impact in supporting farm sustainability,” he said.
Enterprise Ireland CEO, Leo Clancy said: “This new collaboration at the Teagasc Moorepark Dairy Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for Irish agritech companies to engage with all involved in the dairy farming industry. The development of the Irish agritech industry is a high priority for us in Enterprise Ireland. This event will help both our companies and farmers alike understand the key technologies that will transition farming and food production to a more sustainable future across the world”.
Speaking on behalf of Teagasc, Director Professor Frank O’Mara welcomed the initiative saying: "Adoption of agritech at farm level will be an important tool in overcoming the challenges facing the agriculture sector. I would like to thank Enterprise Ireland for facilitating this collaboration with AgTech Ireland, which provides a welcome opportunity for farmers to view some of the technologies available today."
Padraig Hennessy explained that a number of member companies will be present at the open day on July 4th at the AgTech Ireland stand. Their presence will be conditional on their showcasing only technologies which are regarded as being valuable and widely available to farmers by an independent judging panel.
