The Dairy Edge Podcast goes from Strength to Strength
Since Teagasc launched The Dairy Edge Podcast in January 2018, Ireland’s first dairy-focused podcast has gone from strength to strength and in July 2022 reached the very significant milestone of half a million listens.
Presented by Dr Emma-Louise Coffey, Teagasc, along with the additional bonus content from Dr Stuart Childs of the Teagasc Let’s Talk Dairy webinar series, The Dairy Edge has given farmers, agriculture students and the industry weekly insights and analysis as well as farmer stories and experiences to keep its listeners up-to-date with developments in all aspects of dairy farming.
To mark its 500,000 listens milestone, in a special bonus edition of The Dairy Edge, presenter Emma-Louise Coffey looks back on some of the show’s most popular interviews in the last 5 years.
“The success of The Dairy Edge is down to our guests who give of their time and share their knowledge, our producer, Daire Whelan from LastCastMedia, as well as to you our listeners. The growth of the Dairy Edge audience reflects Irish dairy farmers’ willingness to learn and improve in all aspects of their dairy farm business.” Emma-Louise Coffey
Head of Dairy Knowledge Transfer in Teagasc, Dr Joe Patton said; “Dairy farmers in Ireland have a keen appetite for technical knowledge and insights that can be used to develop their enterprise. The Dairy Edge Podcast, through the quality of its content and presentation, has steadily developed into a key platform for Teagasc to interact with the wider industry. I congratulate Emma-Louise and the team on the success of their efforts. I thank all our content contributors, particularly the regularly featured dairy farmers, who are a most popular element of the podcast.”
Head of Animal & Grassland, Research and Innovation at Teagasc, Professor Laurence Shalloo said; “It is clear that we must use every avenue and opportunity to communicate with farmers on the topics and issues relevant to their business. The Dairy Edge allows farmers to engage with relevant topics at their own pace and time, whether that is in the car, while milking, or during down time.”
