GLAS Traditional Farm Buildings Grant Scheme 2022 is open

On Friday, 21st January, the 2022 GLAS Traditional Farm Buildings Grant Scheme opened for online applications. The scheme is open to GLAS farmers for the conservation of traditional farm outbuildings. It will close on 22nd February 2022. Find out more about what's involved here

The GLAS Traditional Farm Buildings Grant Scheme is an annual scheme which is open only to farmers participating in the Green Low Carbon Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS). The scheme grant-aids the conservation and repair of traditional farm buildings and related structures.

The Heritage Council manages this scheme in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) to ensure that traditional farm buildings and other related structures that contribute to the character of the landscape and are of significant heritage value, are conserved for active agricultural use.

Grant Aid

The rate of grant is 75% of the cost, ranging from between €4,000 to a maximum of payment of €25,000 and paid by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM).

Eligible works for funding

These include:

the conservation of traditional farm outbuildings, including roof, walls, structural repairs, windows and doors.
other related farm structures including historic yard surfaces, walls, gate pillars and gates.

The applications will be certified by the Heritage Council and it isimportant to note that it is repair works of minimum intervention, rather than restoration works, which will be approved.

Eligible applicants for the scheme are chosen on a competitive basis and 70 to 80 projects will be supported.

Online Information Seminar

The Heritage Council in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and The Marine are hosting a zoom webinar for GLAS farmers who are interested in applying for the scheme. The seminar will take place at 12pm on Thursday 27th January 2022. You can register via The Heritage Council here

Interested GLAS participants must apply online for this grant scheme here. Paper forms are neither provided nor accepted. The closing date for receipt of completed online applications is 5pm Tuesday 22nd February 2022.
