Teagasc and ClieNFarms Launch Micro-Learning Campaign on LESS

Teagasc and ClieNFarms Launch Micro-Learning Campaign on LESS

Teagasc, in collaboration with ClieNFarms and its partners, is developing ‘micro-learnings’ - which are quick online training sessions, taking no more than 10 minutes designed for farmers, advisors, and students. The first module focuses on LESS.

These modules focus on climate adaptation and mitigation measures. The first micro-learning that the project is releasing is on Low Emission Slurry Spreading (LESS) and covers what it is, how it works and the environmental benefits.

All micro-learnings have a quiz element to allow you to test your knowledge of the featured technology.

Take the LESS micro-learning

This micro-learning was developed by Dr. Sarah Walsh, Research Officer in Moorepark. The micro-learnings will be released through the ClieNFarms social media channels.

For more information on the micro-learnings, specifically on how they can be integrated into agricultural colleges; please contact Niamh.Phelan@teagasc.ie

Ireland’s demonstration farms

Across Europe, the ClieNFarms project is working with a variety of demonstration farms to implement climate-neutral and resilient farming practices. In Ireland, there are two demonstration farms:

  1. The Beef Demo Farm is at Johnstown Castle focuses on reducing emissions and increasing sequestration through improved soil fertility, reduced fertiliser use, enhanced animal welfare, multispecies swards, and agro-forestry.
  2. The Dairy Demo Farm is Curtin’s Research Farm reduces emissions and increases sequestration by transitioning to grass-white clover and multispecies swards, reducing nitrogen fertiliser use, adopting low-emissions slurry spreading, and planting trees.

Each week, we will highlight one climate solution from these farms, alternating between beef and dairy, to inspire Irish farmers with climate solutions.

Social Media Campaign Launch

A ClieNFarms social media campaign  was also launched. This campaign will feature micro-learnings - short, interactive modules on key climate solutions - as well as updates from Ireland’s demonstration farms, showcasing real-world practices that reduce emissions and increase sustainability.
