At the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska today, Minister of State with responsibility for Farm Safety at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon T.D, launched the investment of €1.2m in 18 farm machinery simulators for use in Teagasc agricultural colleges.

Details on farm performance for 2021
Final results of the 2021 National Farm Survey have been released by Teagasc economists. Enterprise Factsheets providing detailed information on production costs and farm technical performance are also published. Results indicate that the average family farm income rose by 27% in Ireland in 2021

Over 4,500 Farm Accidents occur annually
New data from the Teagasc National Farm Survey (NFS) has revealed that that there were 4,523 accidents on Irish farms. The survey was conducted in 2021 and relates to year 2020. Over 88% of these farm accidents involved the farm operator, with a further 11% relating to family members.
