The Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS) aims to get 380MW of renewable electricity into our electrical grid by getting panels on approximately 70,000 buildings.
Under the proposed scheme, renewable systems between 6kW and 50kW (businesses) will qualify for a Clean Export Premium (CEP) per kWh of renewable electricity generated for 15 years. Domestic houses <6kW will qualify for a Clean Export Guarantee payment together with a capital grant.
The Microgeneration Support Scheme (MSS) will help farms and homes to produce, use and sell excess renewable electricity.
To discuss the new scheme and what it will mean for agriculture, Barry Caslin, Teagasc will be joined by Rory Somers, Assistant Principal, Electricity Policy at the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) and Policy lead for Micro-generation.
