The National Prepared Consumer Food Centre: Providing Innovative and Sustainable Solutions

The National Prepared Consumer Food Centre (NPCFC) at Teagasc Ashtown is a state of the art food research and development centre, providing technical support and innovative and sustainable solutions for the Prepared Consumer Food Sector.

In 2023, the Centre worked with over 100 food businesses to develop and reformulate new food products, conduct testing and analysis and provide access to knowledge and technology to enhance consumer demands, competiveness and sustainability.

Facilities at the Centre include test kitchens, meat processing, drying technologies, advanced packaging, a sensory science suite and a microbiology safety and shelf-life suite, supported by Teagasc’s expert food scientists.
