Closing date nearing for Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year Competition
Farmers wishing to enter the Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year Competition have just days to do so, as the competition will close to entries on Monday, September 23, 2024.
Supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Teagasc, AIB, FBD, Grassland Agro and the Irish Farmers Journal, and run as part of the Grass10 campaign, the Sustainable Grassland Farmer of the Year Competition is looking for grassland farmers who are growing and utilising high levels of grass in a sustainable way.

For 2024, the competition has a number of categories and an overall price fund of €35,000. Seven prizes will be awarded including: a dairy enterprise category award; a drystock category award; a nutrient management and use efficiency category award; a clover category award; an organic farming category award; and a young farmer (under 30 years) category award. The young farmer category can include entrants that are farm managers or farming in a collaborative arrangement.
Each category winner will receive €5,000, while the overall winner will be selected from the category winners and will receive an additional €5,000.
