Weekly Grass10 Update with Denis and Liam Kenny from County Wexford

For this week’s Grass10 grazing management update, Joseph Dunphy discusses PastureBase data, Dry Matter % and Predicted grass growth, rainfall & soil temperatures for the week. Joseph also has a grazing update from Denis & Liam Kenny, Camolin, Co. Wexford.

Joseph Dumpy provided the latest grass management figures for dairy farms. Due to cooler weather and rainfall, grass growth predictions are lower, ranging from 50 to 60 kg/ha across different regions. Soil temperatures are expected to stay between 14-15°C. Farmers are advised to adjust their grazing strategies due to varying rainfall. The focus should be on feeding animals, avoiding damage, and maintaining milk production. The featured farmers this week are Denis and Liam Kenny from County Wexford, who are currently managing lower-than-targeted average farm cover.
