Young Breeder Training 2025 is Underway

Passionate about horses? Join The Young Breeders Programme to learn from experts and connect with like-minded peers.
Young Breeder training welcomes those aged 15-30 years of age. The next World Championships takes place July 16-19, 2026 at the State Stud Celle in Germany - eligible for those born 2000-2010.
The skills and knowledge transferred through training serve as a foundation for those with an interest in developing their knowledge of the horse. These skills come into focus for varied uses including purchasing a new horse/pony; deciding about which mares/stallions to use for breeding; assessing offspring; presenting horses for inspection, sale, show or competition.
The Young Breeders Programme is a wonderful opportunity for young people to meet with their peers and make contacts in Ireland and throughout the world who share their interest in horses.

An enthusiastic group gathered at Greenogue Equestrian Centre on March 1st to enter Spring with a greater understanding of linear scoring assessment. Ian Cassells generously brought along 3 star and 5 star eventers for the group to assess stripped of tack, and under saddle. Ian provided plenty of insights into the feel he gets from the horses as a rider, and how he manages them as individuals, while Philip Scott and Teagasc specialists explained the process of linear scoring.
The next training session is Saturday April 5th at Ardeo Sport Horses. We are always delighted to welcome new participants.
