Watch: Moorepark Pig Farm Update

In this video we meet Aisling Holmes, research technician at the Teagasc Pig Research Facility (TPRF). Aisling discusses some of the main performance figures in the TPRF for 2022 and highlights some of the areas they are concentrating on and husbandry changes they have made in the unit in 2023.

Including an update on the units gilts that are now being bred on site, the effect that’s had on the units parity profile and the knock on consequences of that. Aisling also discusses the increase in both birth weights and weaning weights as well as a change in transfer age from weaners to fatteners.
