Sheep Expo 2024, an event of interest to everyone involved in the sheep industry, will take place on Wednesday, October 9.

Hosted over two locations - the Bloomfield House Hotel, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath and Tullamore Farm, Co. Offaly – the event targeting students, farmers, veterinarians, policy makers and merchants comprises of three components.

The morning session will feature a mix of presentations and workshops, with the former taking place immediately after opening by Jaynell Anderson, Programme Manager at Sheep Ireland. In this session, Séamus McMenamin, Sheep Sector Manager at Bord Bia, will detail the animal health impacts on market access, before Dr. Eoin Ryan, Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine (DAFM), presents on the blue tongue risks for Irish farms. Following this, three workshops will take place, featuring key and important topics such as antimicrobial resistance, anti-parasitic resistance and lameness control.

The visit to Tullamore Farm will entail four stands, providing delegates with an overview of the Tullamore Farm and its lamb finishing performance, and further information on lameness control, anti-parasitic resistance and ram performance and aftercare.

Upon returning from Tullamore Farm, the evening session will consist of poster viewing – where delegates have the opportunity to view posters relating to the most recent sheep research topics and interact with the researchers. Additionally, the evening session will also feature a gala dinner and the FBD LambPlus Awards Ceremony.
