With blowfly strike a risk on farms, Teagasc Sheep Specialist, Damian Costello joins host Ciaran Lynch on this week’s OviCast podcast to discuss the risk factors, how it occurs and treatment options available to farmers.

Discussing the blowfly season, Damian highlights the importance of taking action in time and having preventative measures in place. This is particularly important as shearing contractors are reporting cases of blowfly strike occurring in ewes, while damp and humid conditions adds to the risk of strike occurring.

Treatment/preventative options are also outlined, including plunge dipping, pour-on treatments and shearing.
