Securing Farmer Wellbeing: Supporting the Social Sustainability of Farming

Dr David Christian Rose, Reading University, will present the results of a recently completed study entitled: ‘Landscapes of support for farming mental health in the UK’. This study investigated farmers’ mental health and the impacts of COVID- 19 and post-Brexit agriculture policy developments. The talk proposes several solutions to improve the landscape of support for farming mental health through and beyond the pandemic.
Brief overviews of recent and ongoing research in Ireland focused on wellbeing and mental health will also be presented prior to an open discussion chaired by Dr David Meredith (Rural Economy Development Programme, Teagasc).
