Do you know the carbon footprint of your farm?
20 October 2021 20 October 2021Venue Online
As part of the Bord Bia audit process, farmers must complete a Sustainability Survey, the data of which enables Bord Bia to assess the environmental performance of Quality Assured farms using a carbon footprint for the farm. The farmer then receives a Farmer Feedback Report from Bord Bia, which includes their farm’s carbon footprint. The report contains useful graphs displaying summaries of your farm’s nutrient management (fertiliser and slurry application), grassland management, and rates of concentrates fed.
To help you understand this figure and how best you can use it, we have organised an informative interactive webinar with representatives from Bord Bia and Teagasc Signpost to guide you through making decisions on reducing emissions on your farm from the information in the report.
On the night you will hear from:
- Dr. Eleanor Murphy, Bord Bia
Eleanor will explain the importance of the Sustainability Survey in providing an accurate carbon footprint and talk you through the Bord Bia Farmer Feedback Report - Seamus Kearney, Teagasc Signpost
Seamus will take us through the practical actions to take to reduce emissions on your farm - Jack Kearney, Teagasc/Glanbia Future Farm Participant & Teagasc Signpost Farmer
Jack Kearney, Teagasc/Glanbia Future Farm Participant will join us to run through how he uses the carbon footprint figure to make decisions on reducing emissions on his farm
