About Danny
Danny Bermingham is 1 of 10 farms participating in the Teagasc Heavy Soils programme
Danny is the 2018 Disadvantaged Land Grassland Farmer of the Year. He farms with his wife Yvonne in Co. Clare, and together they run a 100+ cow spring calving herd. Most of their farm is heavy soils with some peat soils but they still manage to have a have a grass based system of milk production. How do they achieve this? The answer is through excellent grazing infrastructure along with a flexible approach to grazing animals.
Follow Danny throughout the day on Twitter or Instagram on Thursday, 6 May to see how he achieves such high performance from grass on a heavy soils farm.
About the Event
The focus of the event will be to highlight the key factors which allow Danny to run a sustainable dairy farm in challenging conditions, outline farm development in recent years and observe the day-to-day operation of the farm.
Danny has focused on improving grassland production and management in recent years with investment in land drainage, grazing infrastructure and sward quality playing a key role.
