Store Lamb Finishing Event

This year because of the poor lamb performance on autumn grass, many farmers are left with higher than normal numbers of store lambs. Also, because of good profitability in store lamb finishing in the past few years many farmers have bought hill and crossbred store lambs with a view of finishing them in the first 3 months of 2017. To address issues regarding finishing of store lambs, Teagasc are organising an Open Day at Athenry on Tuesday, 15^th November (11am to 2pm) specifically focussed on options for finishing store lambs and will cover the following topics: 

• Store lamb performance at grass including meal feeding options
• Flock health – parasite control, vaccines, lameness etc
• Ration formulation and mineral supplementation and feed management
• Indoor finishing options, shearing and budgeting
• Hill lamb strain comparison and results from Athenry
