The 30th Teagasc Pig Farmers' Conference will take place on October 22nd at the Horse and Jockey Hotel in County Tipperary and October 23rd at Farnham Estate, Cavan, starting at 12:30 PM both days. This annual event brings together stakeholders from the pig farming sector to discuss the latest developments and connect with fellow producers.

This year’s conference features an impressive line-up of invited speakers, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the discussions on the day:

  • Hans Bundgaard, a Danish pig veterinarian, discussing cross-fostering and nurse sow management to reduce piglet mortality.
  • Pedro Nonay, an expert in agricultural commodities, will talk about geopolitical conflicts and agro-trade.
  • Dr. Elizabeth Ball, from AFBI, will present strategies to reduce nitrogen excretion for sustainable pig farming.

Additional topics include celebrating 30 years of the conference, improving breeding performance, the WelFarmers welfare project, and boosting feed conversion efficiency. The event offers a great opportunity for learning and networking in the pig farming sector.
