Training for Suckler Beef Producers

Cattle farmers participating in the Animal Welfare, Recording & Breeding Scheme (AWRBS) have one last chance to complete the training required for the scheme. There are still 4,863 suckler farmers to be trained under the scheme and this training must be completed before the end of this year.

Teagasc and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has organised seven regional training sessions which will take place next week, commencing Monday, 8 November. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food are writing to each farmer informing them of where and when the training sessions are taking place and the importance of attending one of the events. Farmers who fail to complete this training will have to exit the scheme.

Teagasc Beef Specialist Pearse Kelly advised each farmer to bring the letter with their Herd Number printed on it to the training event. Farmers can choose which of the seven venues to attend. “This is an important scheme for suckler beef producers and it’s critical that all farmers participating in the scheme complete the required training. This is the last series of these events being organised by Teagasc,” he said.
