ICT Agri Seminar
Teagasc are organising an ICT Agri Seminar to take place on Friday, 26 February in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin. The theme for the event is ‘Shaping the Future: Targeting Opportunities for ICT in Agriculture -Where we are now and where are we going?’
Director of Research in Teagasc, Dr Frank O’Mara said:” There is a lot of interest in the opportunity to respond to key challenges, from food security to climate change, by enhancing the role of ICT and robotics in sustainable agriculture. This seminar will showcase what Ireland is doing in this space and will allow Irish researchers, farmers and industry to interact with European experts in the area. It is an important initiative as we seek to bring together the ICT and agriculture communities.”
The keynote address at the seminar will be delivered by Dr John Bell, Director of Bioeconomy at the European Commission in Brussels. He will address the issues, challenges, and opportunities for ICT-AGRI in Ireland and Europe. The seminar will bring together farmers, industry, research and funding partners from Ireland and Europe.
Antoinette Jordan, Teagasc researcher, said: “This event will provide networking opportunities for researchers, industry and the farming sector and will include a showcase of 25 transnational projects in the area of ICT and agriculture, which have been funded by the EU through the ICT-AGRI ERA-NET.”
European researchers will showcase projects on topics including: ICT and Automation for a Greener Agriculture; Services & Applications for Smart Agriculture; Enabling Precision Farming.
