10 years of Food Works Programme
Food Works is an accelerator programme for high potential, innovative Irish food and drink start-ups. This year marks 10 years of the Food Works programme - Ireland’s leading accelerator programme for early-stage food and drink companies. Food Works is at the cutting edge of entrepreneurship in Ireland and aims to drive growth, innovation and scale.
At a recent anniversary event opened by Damien English T.D, Minister of State for Business, Employment and Retail, attendees, including Director of Teagasc, Professor Frank O’Mara enjoyed a feast of food and drink produced by current and past companies.
Teagasc work jointly with Bord Bia and Enterprise Ireland to deliver the annual programme, which has been a fundamental driver of innovation and entrepreneurship in the sector in the last decade. The depth of knowledge, support and expertise within the three agencies, Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland and Teagasc is brought to the Food works Programme to assists start-up companies. Teagasc’s unique contribution to Food Works is to support companies from a technical perspective, developing products, processes, packaging and creating a pipeline of sustainable, high quality Irish foods for supply to both national and export markets.
Applications for Food Works 2023 close on 2 December 2022 at https://www.foodworksireland.ie/ . Successful applicants will participate in workshops with national and international industry experts across various disciplines such as strategy, finance, product development and marketing. They will also receive customised support from business advisors, facilitated peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunities across the industry - at home and abroad.
