Winner of the “Forests for People” Category of the 2022 Teagasc Forest Photo Competition Announced
The Teagasc Forestry Development Department today announced the prize winners in category 2 of its ongoing forest photo competition “Celebrating a shared national vision of trees, woods and forests”. The theme of category 2 is “Forests for People” and the winner is Noel Lehane, from Cork, with his dynamic picture titled “Tug of War”.
Noel’s category-winning photo was chosen from a wide range of photographs submitted to the competition from all across the country. He will receive a voucher worth €400 and will also be entered into the Grand Final on 16 December when an overall winner will be chosen from each of the three competition category winners. The overall winner will receive a further voucher for €600.
In complimenting the category winner, Tom Houlihan, Teagasc Forestry Specialist, describes how Noel’s photograph captures the fun and enjoyment to be experienced within forest settings. Tom said: “Forests provide ideal locations for recreation, promoting fitness, health and a sense of well-being”.
The two runners up in this second category will each receive vouchers to the value €100.
Mr. Brendan Cullen submitted a nicely composed picture from Ashford in Co Wicklow called “Sunday Strollers”.
Mr Chris Howes, also from Wicklow, entered an atmospheric and beautifully-captured image titled “Alone”.
The winning photo, along with the runners up and a selection of highly commended entries in the “Forests For People” category will shortly be available for viewing on the forestry section of the Teagasc website www.teagasc.ie/forestphotos22
