March 25th Equine Demonstration Event

Teagasc are teaming up with the Army Equitation School, Richard Sheane of Cooley Farm, and Damien Griffin of Lissyegan Stables to welcome breeders, producers and other equine enthusiasts for an evening of equine demonstration and discussion. The event takes place at Emerald Equestrian Centre (Eircode: A83 F585) from 7pm to 9.30pm on Monday, March 25, 2024.

This event presents an opportunity for all enthusiasts to engage with professional producers of both showjumpers and eventers.

The Army Equitation School is not only a centre of excellence dedicated to competing at the highest level of international equestrian competition, but also serves to promote Ireland and the Irish Horse. Equitation School riders have represented Ireland at Olympic, World, and European championships level in Showjumping and Three Day eventing over the years. With a lovely string of horses of varying ages in the school presently, riders have been achieving multiple national and international successes over the past twelve months.

Cooley farm is the home of Richard and Georgina Sheane and their family. Cooley Farm is a world leader in producing top class young sport horses. Cooley horses have achieved 100 international wins, and counting, with top spot at events like Kentucky, Aachen, and Le Lion d’Angers and three Cooley horses rated as three top ten year olds in the world in recent months. On the showjumping front EIC Cooley Jump The Q (ISH) is also flying the flag with multiple 5* wins and placings.

Damien Griffin based at Lissyegan Stables operates a predominantly showjumping production, sales and livery business specialising in the sourcing and production of horses for both showjumping and eventing spheres. Damien Griffin is no stranger to podium successes and has been particularly successful in producing young stallions over recent years. Damien also partners with international riders at home and abroad in many of the horses produced.

This event presents an opportunity for all enthusiasts to engage with professional producers of both showjumpers and eventers. The demonstrations and discussion will focus on assessing a selection of horses of varying ages in the context of desirable traits, customer demands, opportunities in the market, and production for both market and sport. Opportunities to ask questions and engage in the discussion will be available.
