Mark Plunkett, Teagasc, Johnstown Castle, Wexford advises to plan in advance to maximise both grass silage yield and quality to help reduce the costs associated harvesting and ensiling the grass, to offset some of the concentrate feed costs and ensure enough grass silage is produced to meet the winter feed requirements of the animals on the farm.
