Summer annuals are excellent for adding colour displays around your garden in borders or containers on your patio and balconies for the summer months. Annual plants complete their life cycle from seed to flower in one year (1 season). There are many different species available from multi bedding packs to single pot such as trailing plants. This video will introduce you to some bedding packs that are ideal for your borders or containers.

Pansies have large colourful flowers on dark green, compact plants.  There are available in many vibrant colours with playful “faces”. Viola flowers are smaller than Pansy. Viola flowers are edible adding colour and a mild spice to any salad. Both offer an extended blooming season right into late autumn. Easy to grow and will self-seed for next year.

Many of these summer annuals are available by order or online in your local garden centre https://www.bordbia.ie/localplantsuppliers/ keep an eye out for plants featuring the ‘Bord Bia Quality Mark’ as this will support many Irish growers.
