Kildalton College Virtual Open Day took place on June 4th - Three sessions were held covering the agriculture, horticulture and equine courses
Agriculture
The agriculture session was hosted by Principal Tim Ashmore live from Kildalton College. Tim was joined by a panel - James Ryan, Assistant Principal for Agriculture, Joe Day, Livestock Lecturer and Claire Bambrick, Crops Lecturer. James Ryan gave an update on the college farm and facilities, where students learn the practical skills required to run a successful agriculture enterprise. The panel, with the aid of videos, discussed studying agriculture at Kildalton and answered questions from potential incoming students. A wide range of skills are to be gained from studying Agriculture in Kildalton College including:
- grass and land management
- husbandry skills
- managerial skills
- gaining an insight into the use of new technologies.
The panel also discussed the progression options for students and the advantages of studying agriculture in Kildalton, including field trips, guest speakers and the exceptional facilities.

Horticulture
Kildalton Principal, Tim Ashmore was joined by Grainne McMahon, Assistant Principal for Horticulture and Fred Townsend, Lecturer for the Virtual Kildalton Horticulture College Open Day. They discussed the Horticulture courses on offer in College. Grainne gave an overview of the horticulture options available to incoming students and the facilities available to horticulture students to aid them in their studies. The panel were also on hand to answer questions on the horticulture courses and what incoming students can expect as part of their studies. Fred also discussed the employment options available to students upon completion of the Level 5 and 6 courses on offer in Kildalton College.

Equine
Tim Ashmore, Kildalton Principal was joined by Kate Solon, Equine Lecturer and Rosemary Gaffney, Equine Programme Coordinator for the Kildalton College Virtual Equine pen Day. The virtual event was to give potential students an insight into the Equine courses on offer in Kildalton College. Kate and Rosemary explained what students can expect as part of their studies and the process in applying for the equine courses, as well as giving a run-down of what a typical day as an equine student would look like. Videos showed the facilities available to students as well as the different aspects of the equine courses on offer. The panel were also on hand to answer questions from applicants
