Sustainable energy use in horticulture - Solar PV and Battery storage

A webinar on sustainable energy solutions in horticulture using solar PV took place on Monday, 24 October. Dónall Flanagan, Hardy Nursery Stock Advisor was joined by Barry Caslin, Energy Specialist and Eoin Sweetman, Vegetable Crops Advisor.

Barry Caslin presented an overview of solar PV, inverters and battery technology. Scenarios for horticultural producers were assessed and there was an opportunity for questions from viewers.

There is strong interest in the horticulture industry to reduce energy costs and use more sustainable energy options. While PV solar panels and batteries are not new technologies, there is ongoing refinement and improvements worth investigating.
