On Monday, 14 February, Barry Caslin, Teagasc was joined by Rory Somers and Leo Haverty, Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) to discuss the new Microgeneration Support Scheme and what it will mean for agriculture.
The Micro-generation Support Scheme (MSS) aims to get 380MW of renewable electricity into our electrical grid by getting panels on approximately 70,000 buildings.
Under the proposed scheme, renewable systems between 6kW and 50kW (businesses) will qualify for a Clean Export Premium (CEP) per kWh of renewable electricity generated for 15 years. Domestic houses <6kW will qualify for a Clean Export Guarantee payment together with a capital grant.
