A. 20 Unit Herringbone Parlour
2’6” centre cow spacing with collecting yard for 150 cows, drafting gate and good handling facilities.
B. 16 unit parlour with drafting
This parlour features a 16 unit parlour with space for 20 units. Nice compact dairy and plant room. Drafting area to left the layout give 3 large pens around the crush which are great for events such as testing. Exit walkway on slatted passageway.
C. Kildalton Dairy Unit – DAFM Specification 2020
This is a tour of the 20 unit herringbone parlour in Kildalton, A 20 unit 2” centre parlour with sequential baling. Also included is a tour of the associated cubicle shed. As you go through the tour you will be able to see detailed information on the current DAFM specification S106 which were update in May 2020.
D. 24 unit herringbone parlour
Herringbone parlour with a well laid out drafting / calving area beside the parlour. The double use of the penning and incorporating a side by side crush in to the exit race is a very efficient use of space.
E. 18 unit mid range parlour
This 18 unit parlour has been built into an existing shed. The design makes excellent use of the existing farm facilities. The parlour has 2’6” cow spacing, it has been fitted with ACR’s (automatic cluster removers), milk indicators, from and rear air gates and a batch feeding system. Cow flow is good with a large amount of space for the cows to exit the parlour quickly. Light weight clusters were installed to make the task of milking much easier on the operator.
F. Milk Quality Award winner
Virtual tour of the farm of Richard and Wendy Starrett, winners of 2020 NDC and Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards (QMA). The farm features a circular collecting yard behind the new 24 unit milking parlour. There is also a tour of the purpose built calf house with access to a training paddock.

H. 10 Unit Parlour w/ Drafting/Handling Area
Drafting/Handling Area built onto the side of an existing 10 unit parlour. This design had to overcome a lot of challenges, space was limited as the parlour exit is only a few meters from the site boundary. Access routes for the cows is in two directions 75% of paddocks out to the front of the parlour and 25% to rear past the cubicle sheds. The design has greatly improved the cow flow for the parlour and they no longer have to hold cows after milking, there are some sharp turns required but overall the system has performed really well and grealty improved the way cows are handled on the farm.
