Farming in difficult weather conditions

Farming can a rewarding occupation but at times weather conditions can make it challenging and difficult. In particular 2018 with the heavy snow falls (Storm Emma/Beast from the East) in early March being difficult from an animal welfare viewpoint. This was followed by continuous weeks of rain creating fodder shortages for many farmers. A much welcomed dry spell continued for much longer than anticipated and led into very hot weather with temperatures hitting 30 degrees on a number of days. This unfortunately once again created a difficult fodder situation.
