Farming during difficult times

Farming can a rewarding occupation but at times it challenging and difficult. Weather conditions such as:

  • Heavy snow creating animal welfare problems as in 2018 with Storm Emma / Beast from the East
  • Heavy continuous rainfall leading to animals being housed for exceptionall long periods of time creating fodder shortages
  • Prolonged hot weather sometimes with high temperatures creating drought condifions and difficult fodder situations.
  • Rising input costs which can leaad to shortages of fertiliser and feed
