Farming during difficult times
Farming can a rewarding occupation but at times it challenging and difficult. Weather conditions such as:
- Heavy snow creating animal welfare problems as in 2018 with Storm Emma / Beast from the East
- Heavy continuous rainfall leading to animals being housed for exceptionall long periods of time creating fodder shortages
- Prolonged hot weather sometimes with high temperatures creating drought condifions and difficult fodder situations.
- Rising input costs which can leaad to shortages of fertiliser and feed
