On Wednesday, 2 March 2022, Organic Dairy Farmer Seamus Howard hosted a Teagasc Organic Farm Walk to which anyone with an interest in the organic sector was invited.
At the farm walk a number of topics were discussed such as:
- The Howard's plans to increase their organic dairy herd
- Breeding strategy
- Production system
- Growing quality grass-clover swards
- Grazing system
- Silage production
- Housing
- and capital costs
Seamus is one of the farmers participating in the Burren Farming for Conservation Programme (BFCP) and some of his future plans include exploring the option of developing on farm walking tours.
