There are four main offices in the region located at Tullamore, Mullingar, Ballyhaise and Monaghan. In addition there are 2 advisory clinics located at Baileboro in Co Cavan and Birr in Co Offaly.
As Teagasc is an integrated organisation, it means that our advisory and education staff have the backup support of specialists and researchers.
Our programmes are geared towards increasing competiveness and sustainability in the farming sector. In this region, there are 30 dairy discussion groups, 24 drystock discussion groups, 2 tillage discussion groups and 8 sheep discussion groups.
Included in our business plan, is a programme of seminars, farm walks and open days, which are open to the general farming public to attend.
A joint programme with Lakeland Joint Programme to help deliver on the ambitious targets set for the dairy industry in Food Harvest 2020 commenced in 2013.
In education, our major programme is the Level 6 Award Holders Course centred at the Mullingar Office. In addition we run short courses on Health/Safety, ICT, financial and environment.
Our advisers also provide support to farmer clients in the area of Department schemes such as the Basic Payment Scheme, Nitrates Derogations, Cross Compliance and Environment schemes.
