Teagasc Mushroom Research covers many aspects of the commercial mushroom production process from compost to packaged product. Research is carried out at Ashtown Research Centre, Dublin 15, in custom-built growing facilities.
We strive to deliver science-based innovation, significantly benefiting our advisory services. We also operate a disease diagnostics service from our laboratory facilities at Ashtown, testing and identifying mushroom pathogens using morphological and molecular methods.
You will find details of current and past research projects below.
Biocontrol of dry bubble disease (2020-2024)
Biocontrol of mushroom pathogens by Bacillus subtilis and genomic interactions between host, pathogen and biocontrol agent.
Lignocellulose degradation (2017-2021)
Characterising lignocellulose degradation in mushroom substrate by Agaricus bisporus strains.
