Kildalton Dairy Unit – DAFM Specification 2020
This is a tour of the 20 unit herringbone parlour in Kildalton, A 20 unit 2” centre parlour with sequential baling. Also included is a tour of the associated cubicle shed. As you go through the tour you will be able to see detailed information on the current DAFM specification S106 which were update in May 2020.

20 Unit Herringbone Parlour
2’6” centre cow spacing with collecting yard for 150 cows, drafting gate and good handling facilities.

24 unit herringbone parlour
Herringbone parlour with a well laid out drafting / calving area beside the parlour. The double use of the penning and incorporating a side by side crush in to the exit race is a very efficient use of space.

60 Unit Rotary Parlour
This is a 60 point rotary parlour with a very high standard of design and construction throughout. There are a range of water saving measures such as rain water harvesting, inward sloping deck and a flood wash system for the collecting yard, all of which help to greatly reduce the water demand of the parlour.

Robot shed with 80 cubicles
This is a well laid out robot shed, it is built for a twin head to tail robot and 80 cubicles. The drafting holding area located behind the robot has some excellent features such as easy access for feeding, a hidden operator pit for udder treatment, calving area and safe loading facilities. The area also functions very well for batch animal tasks such as testing.

60 unit rotary parlour with covered collecting yard
This dairy unit contains a 60 unit rotary parlour. The parlour features a robotic teat spray arm, there is an excellent handling unit off the parlour making great use of the space. The fully covered collecting yard has space for 450 cows it is fitted with an up and over backing gate with scrapper. The attached shed houses a 3 row cubicle layout with space for 200 cows.
