Professor Catherine Stanton (Microbiology)

Professor Catherine Stanton, Senior Principal Research Officer at the Food Biosciences Department at Teagasc, Department of Psychiatry, UCC and Principal Investigator at  APC Microbiome Ireland and VistaMilk SFI Research Centres. Her research includes nutritional aspects of dairy and functional foods, probiotic cultures, bioactive metabolite production, infant gut microbiota, and healthy proteins and fats (including conjugated linoleic acid, short chain fatty acids) that are produced by gut bacteria. She is also very interested in the microbiome during pregnancy and in infancy.

Congratulating Professors Tiwari, Cotter and Stanton, Teagasc Director, Professor Frank O’ Mara said; “This is an exceptional achievement for Brijesh, Paul and Catherine to be named as one of the Highly Cited Researchers 2023 on the Clarivate list. Each researcher selected has authored multiple Highly Cited Papers™ which rank in the top 1% by citations for their field(s) and publication year in the Web of Science over the past decade. Citation activity is not the sole selection indicator. A preliminary list based on citation activity is then refined using qualitative analysis and expert judgement. Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers are 1 in 1,000.
