Listen: Funding for historic farm buildings - what is involved & who can apply?

Anna Meenan, Traditional Farm Buildings grant scheme programme manager, and Ian Doyle, Head of Conservation with the National Heritage council in Kilkenny, join us to discuss the importance of historic farm building conservation and how to apply.

The podcast discusses the cultural and historical value of traditional farm buildings in rural communities. These structures, though not officially protected, often hold personal significance for farmers, tied to family heritage and local history.

The Traditional Farm Buildings Grant Scheme, managed by the Heritage Council and supported by the Department of Agriculture, aims to conserve and repair these structures, which include barns, granaries, dairies, old gates, cobbled yards, and field walls, typically built before the 1950s.
